The Russian Federation is a vast land of enormous mineral wealth.  Mineral collecting dates back to the time of the czars.  When the Soviet Union collapsed there was a flood of high quality Russian mineral specimens on the global market.  There continues to be a steady supply from classic Russian localities such as Kola and Dal'negorsk.
