Ancylite/Calcioancylite gallery

The Ancylite Group [Ancylite (Ce) and Calcioancylite (Ce)] are among the most common accessory minerals at MSH.  The crystals never get larger than a few millimetres but have the unusual property of  "colour change".  In sunlight and incandescent light they are pink to purple but under fluorescent light they are blue-grey.

Ancylite was one of the last carbonates to crystallize at MSH and commonly pseudomorphed other minerals.  Ancylite pseudomorphs after a hexagonal Burbankite Group mineral  (Remondite?) are common.
